Member Spotlight – Debbie Cooper, Kappa Gamma

Why PTO?
Where do I begin! About 33 years ago I went to an exercise class at the local YMCA. The instructor, Karen Shute, and I quickly became friends. I was a stay at home mom with two children one needing special care and a husband that traveled a lot. Karen came to my house one day to find my Tupperware sorted by size and color and well as all the hangers in my house colored coded by person and all facing the same direction. She decided I needed to get out of the house. So she invited me to meet the Kappa Gamma Chapter. I couldn’t believe what a wonderful organization. The ability to help others in the community coupled with a bunch of loving sisters was what brought me into the Phi Tau Omega Sorority. My first convention actually made me realize how far and wide the sorority reached and how much we could do for our communities. (I was also instructed at that first convention to stay quiet in the early morning and absolutely do not pick up after everyone!) All of those organizational skills were soon put to use. I was on committees, then chapter offices and eventually National President. It has made such a difference in my life! Thank you, Phi Tau Omega Sorority.
